Login
This app is the place from which the students work. To get here, the student first has to log in. This can be done in 3 ways:
- Using a Summar.io local account with an e-mail address and a password;
- With a Google+ account;
- With an Office365 account.
The registration of the student's user profile determines which way is applicable.
Login with an e-mail address
You fill in your e-mail address with which you are registered and then your password. The "Login" button then becomes active. You can log in by pressing this button.
If you have forgotten your password, you can use the "Forgot your password?" request a new password using your e-mail address. You can then log in again with your new password.
Login with a Google+ account
You can also log in with a Google+ account. You do this with the red G+ button in the login screen. If you are already signed in to Google+, you will be immediately signed in in Summar.io. If not, you must first sign in in Google+.
Login with an Office365 account
You can also log in with an Office365 account. You do this with the blue Windows button in the login screen. If you are already signed in in Office365, you will be immediately signed in in Summar.io. If not, you must first sign in in Office365.
Settings
Once logged in you will see the following screen.
By clicking your name at the top right corner of the screen, you'll open a menu that allows you to open the settings screen, request information about Summar.io or log out.
In the settings screen you can choose a background theme, set a different time zone, set your preferred language, set your profile picture and adjust your password if you log in using a local account.
By clicking on the Dashboard breadcrumb again at the top left of the screen you will return to the initial screen.
Courses
The dashboard contains all the courses for which the student is enrolled. The courses are shown as large round buttons with the name of the course below it. By clicking a course, the relevant course is opened.
In the screen that opens you can see the available learning units for this course and the progress based on learning objectives. If not all learning units are shown, you can make them visible with the "Show more" button.
Clicking on a square learning unit button opens the relevant learning unit.
Learning units
When a learning unit is opened, a student receives an overview of all learning objects within the unit. These are divided into 3 blocks:
- Introduction
- Let's get started
- Prove your knowledge
By clicking on a learning object the relevant object is opened. When the button has a blue color, the object has already been opened once. The icon on the button indicates the status. This can be "Achieved", "Paused" and "Redo". More information on Learning objects can be found in the article "Learning objects"
You can return to the previous screen or dashboard by following the crumb trail in the top right corner of the grey bar.
Learning objects
A learning object can contain explanations, exercises, assignments or tests in the form of video, web pages, individual documents or interactive questions. The exercises, assignments and tests are carried out by the student and the result, after he has first assessed himself, submitted for assessment by the teacher. Below is an example of an assignment.
The result is reported back to the student as a notification.
